"Our Authors, Our Priority.
Since my nomination in June 2002, as chairperson of the society, I have been concerned with changing MASA to create a space for the better understanding of copyright issues both among our staff and members. I have also been concerned with making our society and its mission known to others both the general population and our politicians.
Upon my nomination, the board of management and I have worked hard to strengthen the role of the society as a collecting and distribution society. To do this we have sought to bring our accounting up to date by requesting a thorough audit of our books since the creation of the society by the Management Audit Bureau.
Today we are working of building our MASA spirit where the board, members and the staff work together to protect the work of all artists regardless of whether they are Mauritian or foreign.
The launching of this present website is only the beginning of our project to bring MASA and Mauritian artists in touch with the world outside of Mauritius. We will soon be launching a Mauritian National Musical Works Information Database to facilitate the work of Artists and other researchers interested in Mauritian music.
Artists, users of music, and art lovers in general should take part in the development of Art in Mauritius. Let us tune our inspiration to contribute to the value of Art and look forward to expand our horizons as we reach a larger audience through our new website."
